The Italian congress to spread awareness about marine preservation
One Ocean Forum took place at teatro Franco Parenti in Milan, created for the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, strongly supported by princess Zahra Agha Khan, President of the One Ocean founding commission. The congress had the aim to spread a major awareness about marine environmental degradation. All contents were produced in partnership with Unesco Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and the scientific contribution of SDA Bocconi. In this occasion was developed the Charta Smeralda, a code of ethics to disseminate marine preservation principles and actions. More than 700 guests listened to testimonials and contributions of selected keynote and eye witness speakers from different fields. Many students joined the forum and some of them even had the chance to take part in one of the 7 labs: working tables dedicated to the discussion of marine related pressing issues. The event was conducted under the auspices of Ministero dell’Ambiente, Comune di Milano, Regione Autonoma della Sardegna, the British Virgin Island, CONI, Sybass, Nautica Italiana, Ucina, Confindustria Nautica, Salone Nautico di Genova and Centro Velico di Caprera.
