BEIJING 2022 | Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Flag Handover
Produced by Balich Wonder Studio
See you in Italy!
Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games ended with the Flag Handover from China to Italy, where the flag has been awaited for twenty years, since it came from Salt Lake City to Torino.
The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games are one of a kind, the first in the world to be awarded to two cities at once: Milan and Cortina. The event also involves two regions, Lombardy and Veneto, and two autonomous provinces, Trento and Bolzano, with a territory covering more than 22,000 km².
These elements embody souls that differ in appearance but complement one another.
“Duality, Together” was the underlying narrative thread of the live show for the Flag Handover Ceremony. The celebration of a harmonious dialogue between Milano and Cortina. Between the city and the mountain. Between mankind and nature. Between future and sustainability.
Two souls united, celebrating the Olympic values and tracing a path for a better future for the planet.
To represent Italy during the Beijing 2022 closing ceremony was the president of CONI and the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, Giovanni Malagò; the mayors of the two cities, Giuseppe Sala and Gianpiero Ghedina; the general director of the Foundation, Vincenzo Novari; the Creative Director of the Flag Handover Ceremony, Marco Balich and artist Malika Ayane.
