Rio 2016 Olympic Games ended with the Flag Handover from the Cidade Maravilhosa to the City of Waterways, the City of Festival and the City of sports: Tokyo, the world’s biggest fan of sports is a city that can bring new and more exciting things to the world of athletics.
The audience was captivated by stylish and edgy music and rhythms: the show celebrated Tokyo, its’ unique aesthetic in enjoying sporting events, characterized by exactness or preciseness in their manners and flag waving of Tokyo style pep squads.
“Arigato from Japan“, a moving message of gratitude was sent for the support Japan received from people around the world after the earthquakes that occurred on March 11, 2011; Arigato for the opportunity to hold the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo for the second time; and Arigato for the wonderful Olympic Games in Rio!
Tokyo and Rio got connected: a ball was passed between top Japanese athletes and popular manga and anime characters. Using Doreamon’s secret tool, Super Mario – the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, from the other side of the world, reached the Maracaña Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
Sport Technology: was it virtual or real? Thanks to the latest Japanese technology, unforgettable Men’s Rhythmic Gymnastics Team’ performances made full use of augmented reality technologies. The beautiful motions of the athletes were expressed attractively with the use of state-of-the-art technology.
Diversity and Harmony: with 45 interconnecting pieces of 3 different rectangular shapes, the Ichimatsu pattern of the Tokyo 2020 Emblem was created under the concept of “diversity and harmony”: the spectacular Japanese stylish design represented a message of hope and tolerance, pursuing the ideal of equality promoted by Rio 2016 Olympics Ceremonies.
What has happened to the red ball that was delivered from Tokyo? Super Mario, handing the red ball he brought from Tokyo to the gold medallist swimmer Kosuke Kitajima, was the cue to set off fireworks for a spectacular grand finale. See you in Tokyo!
